Case Study: A senior leader team navigates significant changes in executive management and annual objectives
Background: A Senior Manager in the risk management division of a Fortune 50 company was promoted to Director following her boss's departure. This promotion expanded her responsibilities from managing 80 employees to over 300, including senior managers who had previously been her peers. As part of her year-end goals, executive management tasked her with achieving significant budget cuts through process improvements and a hiring freeze.
Challenge: The new Director needed to quickly earn the trust of her former peers and demonstrate that together, they could effectively meet executive management’s demands by working smarter, not harder, and achieving more with less.
Solution: The Director enlisted an executive coach to help her senior leadership team align and collaborate more effectively. The coach’s focus was to build trust, clarify the team’s vision and mission, and create a strategic plan aligned with the company’s broader goals. A key component of this effort was a four-day offsite, where senior leaders, guided by the coach, co-created the agenda.
